Road Trip: Narrawong to Canunda NP
Pauls and co had decided to visit the Grampians today and so me Jo and Laura decided not to go along as it would be a 600k round trip back to the coast and we couldnt afford the fuel, so we all went our seperate ways, although Jo and Laura will be meeting up with the lads in Perth, its just we are on a lot shorter shoestring budget than the other guys.We headed to South Australia - Mt Gambier, tried the local sheppards pie and mcdonalds, ohhh and how can i forget the tourist information center, shaped like and old pirate ship, the old hag in there was very unhelpful, and i can only put this down to us being english, this may sound odd but throughout my time in australia ive met a few ozzy's that have no need to be grumpy towards us other than the fact that we just seem to travel and spend money and never seem to work....well there the key, you only see backpackers wen their travelling becuase they worked and saved to move on, hence the look of travelling and just spendin money!!!! It was raining by the time we left the info center, we headed for Blue Lake, Valley Lake and Mutton Chop Lake, I cant tell you 2 much about these lakes as it was pissin it down the temptation to stop and admire the view was
dampened (forgive the pun) We also visited a sink hole in the center of town, it wasnt anything special, just a big hole in the ground, again the rain was hampering us, so we decided to up sticks and hit the road. Now in SA we had to put our clocks back half an hour.We drove onwards further in south australia, and en route i spotted another wind farm, so a quick detour later and we were driving this windy road the loops round nearly all of the wind turbines, it was ace, you really dont get a sense of how big they are until your right up close to one, which i just had to experience, i found a quite spot on the road as close to a turbine as i could get, i skipped over the fence (a very low one i might add) and ran and stood under this 70 meter tower with its 3 x 40 meter long blades swoooshing around above me, it was ace, Jo was standing at the side of the road tryin to take a pic of my, unfortunatly they all turned out abit
blurry due to the camera trying to focus on the spinning blades, never mind, u can see a small dot at the bottom of the tower, thats me :) on to Canunda National Park and camped by the beach, after setting up camp we paid the beach a visit, laura being laura :) had to go in, although came out rather sharply after we spotted blue bottle jelly fish scattered all over the beach!!! Back at camp we assesed the stock of goon available, it was horendously low, so we made a supplies trip to millicent to get more goonage, bk to camp, dinner then smashed hahaha :)
